New Features

This section highlights the new features in the current release.

  1. Support for secure HaloCAD for Viewers installation via encrypted JSON file (admin tool). This admin utility tool can write and encrypt data in an encrypted configuration file, including Azure application specifics (Application ID, Tenant ID, and Redirect URI), as well as Cloud type details, allowing only the HaloCAD installer to access the configuration file with the private key during the initialization process, effectively masking the Initialization screen from the user. Thus, the administrator can share this encrypted JSON file with internal/external parties without disclosing the original tenant details. HCADV-330

  2. Support for Siemens Solid Edge 2D Drafting 2025.

  3. Support has been added for Teamcenter Visualization 2406 and 2312 versions with an embedded RAC viewer. HCADV-343, HCADV-316

Improvements

This section lists improvements added to the current release.

Support has been added for masking or allowing clear text visibility of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in the MIP SDK logs using the registry key mipallowpii. HCADV-331

Fixed Issues

This section provides a list of the fixed issues in the current release.

  1. Fixed an issue that caused the Solid Edge 2D Drafting program to crash when the OK button was clicked in the HaloCAD restriction pop-up while scrolling to the Recent Documents option from the quick access menu or the Arrange & Show option under the View tab. HCADV-122

  2. Fixed an issue that caused the Teamcenter Visualization application to close while opening an unprotected or protected JT file when NVIDIA Quadro P2000 was enabled under Display adapters. HCADV-286

  3. Fixed an issue that allowed the export of a protected PVS file from a protected ed, edz, pvs, or pvz file. HCADV-290

  4. Fixed an issue that allowed protected native Creo files to be exported as unprotected files from the Creo View application after annotation via the Save Current View As option. HCADV-306

  5. Fixed an issue that allowed saving the PVS/PVZ file without protection in the specified location when exported from a protected STEP file using the Save As option. HCADV-309

  6. Fixed an issue that caused the AutoCAD LT application to crash when exporting a protected file. HCADV-157

  7. Fixed an issue that caused the protected DWG/DXF and PVS file to be saved as an unprotected file when exported to a different location using the Save As option. HCADV-217

  8. Fixed an issue that allowed exporting the protected DWG/DXF/STEP files as unprotected PVS/PVZ files using the Save As option in the Creo View Lite 9.0 application. HCADV-274

  9. Fixed a bug that caused the Solid Edge 2D Drafting application to go into the Not Responding state when opening a protected Solid Edge file via File > Open. HCADV-292

Known Issues

This section describes the known issues with the current release.

  1. It is not possible to open a protected DWG file in Creo View Express 7.0. HCADV-35

  2. It is not possible to capture a screenshot of an unprotected file in Creo View Express, Solid Edge 2D Drafting, AutoCAD LT, or Teamcenter Visualization Viewer once HaloCAD for Viewers is initialized. HCADV-39

  3. It is possible to change and save a protected file in AutoCAD LT, while doing so, the label will be removed. HCADV-40

  4. When you double-click or right-click to open a protected VDS file with the SAP 3D Visual Enterprises Viewer option, it does not open in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer. HCADV-46

  5. When opening protected files like IGES or IGS or when cloning an unprotected intermediate.PAR or.VDS files will be created. HCADV-48

  6. Multiple times the HaloCAD restricted will appear while opening a protected file in Teamcenter Visualization Base and clicking on the option Tool-> Home button. HCADV-50

  7. A protected IGS file fails to open instead, a pop-up will display as Failed to open document, appears while opening it. Furthermore, the Teamcenter Visualization base application goes to the Not Responding state. HCADV-51

  8. In Creo View Express 7.0 will close abruptly if the Active Mail via E-Mail option is selected. HCADV-54

  9. AutoCAD LT application will crash when you open a file and click the Shared Views option under the Collaborate tab. HCADV-58

  10. It is possible to copy images from a protected file in the Creo View Express/Lite application. HCADV-59

  11. While you double-click to open the protected file, an error message will appear as “The file is not supported by Creo View”. HCADV-60

  12. It is not possible to open the protected file in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewers by anyone other than the user who installed HaloCAD. HCADV-66

  13. AutoCAD LT application will crash while exporting the protected file in .DGN format. HCADV-69

  14. When a Viewer application is installed in a way to start (run as) administrator, you may receive an error message “Drawing file” is not valid instead of the HALOCAD pop-up “Protected files can be loaded”. This is because the HALOCAD for Viewer application did not load properly because of the lack of administrator privilege in the existing instance. HCADV-75
Workaround: Close the existing HALOCAD for the Viewer instance and start the viewer with administrator privilege.

  15. Protected JT files exported from NX 1953 and 1899 series will not open in Teamcenter Visualization Base 12.0. HCADV-87

  16. By selecting Save As in Solid Edge 2D Drafting, it is possible to save a protected draft file without protection. HCADV-92

  17. In Solid Edge 2D Drafting, it is possible to copy drawings from a protected draft file and save them as unprotected files. HCADV-94

  18. It is not possible to open the protected Solid Edge file by double-clicking on it, and doing so would result in an error message from the Solid Edge 2D Drafting tool. HCADV-95

  19. The protected AutoCAD file cannot be opened by double-clicking on it, and doing so will result in an error message from the AutoCAD LT 2020 application. HCADV-97

  20. It is possible to take a screenshot or print a screen of the protected JT file from the JT preview window in the Teamcenter Embedded viewer application. HCADV-98

  21. When opening an unprotected file in the same session in the same folder in Solid Edge 2D Drafting, the previously opened protected file will be displayed. HCADV-108

  22. It is possible to export the protected file as unprotected from the Creo View application using the Save Current View As option. HCADV-160

  23. The Creo View 9.1 application will crash if an unauthorized user attempts to open a protected file. HCADV-161

  24. The Creo View application will crash when opening an unprotected EDZ file with HaloCAD for Viewers installed. HCADV-334
